San Diego natives Don and Laurie Wall established The Pool Doctor, Inc. in 1987 in an effort to provide San Diego and the surrounding areas with the most reliable swimming pool and hot tub custom construction, remodel and renovation services. While the company was founded as a pool and spa service company, it has grown to be the premier custom pool and spa design and construction firm in the area, creating luxurious outdoor living spaces for families to enjoy for years to come.

Our History

Prior to owning The Pool Doctor, president Don Wall worked as an electrical engineer, and Vice President Laurie Wall worked as a legal assistant.  These days, Don currently takes care of field operations, including estimating and supervising, while Laurie manages the office.  The Pool Doctor, Inc. retains a combination of highly skilled employees and sub-contractors.

Experience & Education

The Pool Doctor, Inc. takes industry education and advancement very seriously, as we understand the importance of always bettering your craft. Don has served as president for several terms of the local Independent Pool & Spa Service Association. He also routinely teaches seminars at the annual international pool and spa trade show, as well as mini-seminars at local distributors. He has completed the nationally recognized Certified Pool Operator course through the National Swimming Pool Foundation, and is Water Chemistry Certified by IPSSA.

He has also completed several industry courses in pool design and construction, including Vanishing Edge Design, Pool Hydraulic Design, Design Communication – Measured Perspective, and Technical Application of Water in Transit, just to name a few.  Don has  received the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP) Certified Building Professional (CBP) designation. This is the highest certification given by the pool industry’s largest trade association.
