New Pools

Our vast background in service, repair and renovation has taught us how to avoid the most common problems with new pool construction. From structural cracks to inefficient hydraulics, we have seen it all. We know the causes and we know the solutions.

We design every pool and spa to be structurally sound, energy efficient and beautiful to look at and easy to service. We bring together the practical and the artistic to build a pool and spa you can enjoy and be proud of for years to come.

How to get Started

Balancing the Water in Your New Swimming Pool

Step 1: Turn Off Pool Filter
Keeping the pool sparkling is a bit of chemistry and art. Three factors are involved: pH, total alkalinity and calcium hardness. It takes a little tinkering to get all three in the proper range at the same time. Remember to always turn off the pool filter before adding any chemical--especially an acid--to the water.

Step 2: Test Calcium
Use a water-testing kit to measure the calcium hardness (how "hard" or "soft" the water is). The proper calcium hardness is between 200 and 400 parts per million (ppm). When adding these chemicals, gently pour the mixture at two-foot intervals, two feet from the sides of the pool.

  • INCREASE: Add calcium carbonate dihydrate to increase calcium hardness
  • DECREASE: Add sodium hexametaphosphate to decrease

Step 3: Test Alkalinity
Measure the water's total alkalinity. This figure should be in the range of 80 to 150 ppm; 100 to 120 ppm is best.

  • INCREASE: Adjust the total alkalinity by adding sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
  • DECREASE: Add odium bisulfate (dry acid) to decrease

Step 4: Test pH
With a pH tester, measure the water's pH. The proper pH for a pool is in the range of 7.2 to 7.6.

  • INCREASE: Add soda ash (sodium carbonate)
  • DECREASE: Add sodium bisulfate or liquid muriatic acid

Step 5: Test Fun
Enjoy your new pool!
